Somebody suggested go-karting for the girls weekend and, rather than filing it under 'things we should do one day', the group actually booked it. A proper track, helmets, engines, the lot! Now THAT is a plan with a bit of personality. Pit Lane Princesses gives your Gold Coast girls weekend a completely different opening act, with an indoor go-karting experience, your own chic apartment, a cocktail tower at our balcony bar and bubbly with share plates over dinner. Because there's nothing wrong with your usual catch-ups, but every now and then the girls deserve a plan that's a little less predictable.
And what a way to kick things off! At our indoor multi-level go-kart track, the first surprise is that you're all wearing balaclavas. Naturally, somebody insists on a group photo, and the results are absolutely magnificent for all the wrong reasons. Then it's helmets on, engines buzzing and out onto the track, winding through corners and up through the different levels, catching glimpses of familiar helmets as the girls come flying around the bends. There's something ridiculously exhilarating about the whole experience, especially when you're doing it together. Every lap brings another burst of excitement, another laugh and another story somebody's going to tell very differently later. Honestly, when was the last time the girls had this much fun wearing identical headgear?
Then it's back to your own chic Gold Coast apartment, where the playlist goes on, the bags get dropped and the afternoon's adventures immediately become the topic of several conversations at once. Someone's still laughing about the balaclava photos, someone else is attempting a dramatic reenactment of a corner using both hands, and there's a request for dry shampoo coming from the bathroom. Getting ready together is half the fun of a girls weekend anyway, particularly when everyone has so much to talk about before the night out has even started!
And speaking of the night out, we have a rather fabulous way to get it started. At our lively balcony bar, your table is waiting, and so is a cocktail tower that's about to become the centre of attention. It's tall, it's impressive and suddenly every phone at the table is pointed in the same direction. Glasses are poured, the girls settle in and the first toast goes to whoever suggested go-karting in the first place. What started as a slightly unusual idea in the group chat has turned into a pretty spectacular Gold Coast weekend, and the night is only getting started.
Dinner is waiting at our restaurant, where a round of bubbly and delicious savoury share plates are ready to keep the good times going. The food moves around the table, the conversation moves in about six different directions and somebody's laughing so hard she can't quite finish her sentence. There are stories from the track, naturally, but plenty of other things to catch up on too. That's the beauty of doing something different together. You arrive at dinner with a whole new collection of shared experiences, and suddenly there's even more to talk about than usual. Not that this group has ever struggled for conversation!
And because this is a proper girls weekend, there's no need to turn a fabulous night into a rushed goodbye. You've got your own Gold Coast apartment to head back to, with the whole group staying together. Shoes come off, someone claims the comfiest spot and conversations that started over cocktails somehow find their way into entirely new territory. The sort of late-night chatting that doesn't need an itinerary, just your favourite people and nowhere else you'd rather be.
When you've been creating group celebrations at My Ultimate since 2011, you develop a soft spot for the slightly unexpected ideas. The ones that make everyone in the group chat sit up and say, 'Wait, that actually sounds brilliant!' Go-karting with the girls is exactly that kind of idea. It's exciting, it's something you probably don't do every weekend and it's an experience that's even better when you get to share it. Add a beautiful place to stay and a gorgeous Gold Coast night out, and suddenly that little suggestion has become a weekend nobody's going to confuse with the last one.
