Hands in Clay, Heads in the Clouds
Everyone in this group has lost an hour of sleep to pottery videos. You know the ones: someone turns a lump of clay into something ridiculously cute while you lie there wondering if you could do that too. So you took the hint from your own search history and found a weekend where you'd finally get your hands in the clay. Shape It Like It's Hot brings together rooftop bubbly and share plates, your own chic Melbourne city apartment, a pottery workshop that comes to you and dinner by the river. These are the women who've been there through more than a few versions of you. Making time for each other now belongs with the essentials.
Start up high at our rooftop bar, where your reserved space, a glass of bubbly each and share plates are waiting. Sink into the oversized lounges, pass everything around and get into the kind of catch-up that needs several stories going at once. The city is spread out around you, the cocktails are close by and nobody has anywhere else they need to be.
Then it's back to your own chic Melbourne city apartment, where your pottery host arrives with everything you need and sets up right at the dining table. You'll learn how to hand-build two or three small pieces each before decorating them your way. Little bowls, tiny vases, trinket dishes and the occasional clay creature start appearing around the table, and everyone becomes surprisingly invested in their new creative pursuit. By the end, someone is already researching pottery classes. We support the new personality.
Once the clay is packed away, it's time to get ready for dinner. Drinks on, music up and everyone getting ready together before heading back out into the city.
Dinner is at our stunning waterfront bar, and the best part is that nobody has to make a single decision about it. Your table is reserved, the bubbly is waiting and gourmet pizzas are on their way fresh from the oven. Just sit down, let the food arrive and pass it around while the conversation carries on from where it left off. No ordering negotiations, no splitting the bill at the end, just dinner with the girls and the river sparkling with the city lights.
Later, it's back to the apartment, where the pottery gets one more inspection and someone is suddenly ordering home pottery supplies. Turns out one afternoon with a lump of clay was all it took for a new hobby to be born.
We have a soft spot for girls weekends that send you home with more than photos. Somewhere between bubbly above the city, clay-covered hands around the table and dinner with your favourite people, you’ve made something entirely your own.
