The Other Side Of The Bar
At a normal cocktail night, the most technical decision you make is whether to ask for extra lime. Give the girls a shaker and suddenly everyone's studying the measure, the ice and that rather confident twist of the wrist. The Cocktail Side Quest puts you on the other side of the bar for a change, before sending you out to enjoy Sydney with a whole new appreciation for what lands in your glass.
First, settle into your chic Sydney city apartment. Drop your bags, put something good on the playlist and get ready together. Tonight has a slightly different dress code from your usual catch-up: you'll need an outfit that can handle a little enthusiastic shaking.
Then step into our private velvet room, where a bartender host is ready to show you how it's done. Start with bubbly on arrival before getting hands on with two cocktails each, made from scratch. There's measuring, shaking and pouring, along with that satisfying moment when your first proper creation looks like something you'd happily pay for. One friend turns out to be meticulous, another adds a dramatic flourish to every move, and everyone becomes surprisingly interested in the taste test. It's a wonderful excuse to try something new together, even if the first attempt needs a little guidance.
Once you've earned your place on the other side of the bar, head to our cocktail lounge for hot grazing platters to share. You'll also have access to a discounted cocktail menu if you fancy an extra drink. You may find yourselves watching the bartender with considerably more respect, particularly when they're making several orders at once without holding a group discussion about every ingredient.
Later, our rooftop garden is waiting, with a bottle of bubbly for the group to share. There's time to settle in, take in the city atmosphere and enjoy a round that nobody has to mix themselves. The best part of learning something new with friends is having people there who witnessed the entire process, including the bits you'll all remember rather differently.
