Sharp Aim, Sharper Outfits
This group is very good at swearing it will try something one day, and famously bad at picking the day. Axe throwing has been on the maybe pile for years. Bullseyes and Baddies finally ticks it off: a coached axe throwing session, your own chic Melbourne city apartment for the glow up, cocktails and share plates at our neon cocktail bar, and a VIP booth at our laneway lounge to close the night. Time with your girls belongs with the essentials, not on the someday list, and it turns out it can start with a very satisfying thud.
So you’ve decided to try something a little different, and now you’re standing in a room of timber targets, painted rings and caged lanes with an axe in your hand. Your My Ultimate AXEpert gives you the lowdown, you take your position and suddenly it’s time to see if you can actually hit the target. The first axe flies, the cheering starts and within minutes everyone has developed their own very serious throwing technique. Maybe you’re aiming for the bullseye, maybe you’re imagining that one person who left you on read, or maybe you’re just here for the sheer fun of throwing an axe. Before you know it, you’re laughing, cheering each other on and absolutely nailing throws you didn’t think you had in you. Turns out trying something new on your girls trip was a very good idea.
Then the weekend changes outfits. Your own chic Melbourne city apartment becomes home base, bags dropped by the door and the living room claimed within minutes. The playlist goes on while the axe stories get retold on the couch, a little bigger every time. Getting ready is the part every girls weekend is secretly about: the mirror queue, the constant call of 'leave the straightener on', eyelash glue swiped from someone's kit and the outfit vote held right there on the rug, with spritzes you have mixed yourselves lined up along the kitchen bench. Somewhere between the second outfit and the final lipstick, the group that was throwing axes at lunchtime has become the baddies of the night.
Now it's time for those baddies to hit the city. Our cocktail bar sits right in the heart of Melbourne, and the decor is beautiful in a way that flatters every photo: coral pink and teal walls, with neon Xs and Os glowing through the greenery. Your seating is reserved for your group, and a round of cocktails arrives as you do, ready to set the mood. Then the delicious share plates start landing from the chef, made for passing and absolutely crowd pleasing. Hands cross the table, and the catch up moves on to the stories that have your cackle coming out, the one reserved only for these girls...and maybe the couple 5 tables over.
Then the night heads down to our cocktail lounge tucked into a Melbourne laneway, where the cover charge is waived for your group and the door is a hello rather than a hurdle. Inside, the lights drop low and your velvet VIP booth is waiting, bottle of bubbly already on ice and ready to be popped. The booth becomes home base, somewhere to land and lean in whenever the good story comes out. The iconic dancefloor is right there, and sooner or later the whole booth empties onto it at once.
Back at the apartment, shoes off and faces still glowing, the couch debrief rules on the best throw of the day and then argues about it until it becomes legend. By morning, the kitchen bench fills with coffee cups while photos are shared, one slow motion bullseye after another.
