Go On, Give It A Whirl
There are girls weekends you already know you'll love, and then there are the ones where somebody throws a completely new idea into the group chat and everyone immediately wants in. Pole class, anyone? Spin City Escape is your excuse to give it a go, with your own chic Melbourne city apartment, a private pole class with bubbly, dinner by the river and a VIP booth at our glam laneway cocktail lounge to finish. You might arrive having never touched a pole before. We make no promises about how quickly the new obsession develops.
Start at your own chic Melbourne city apartment, where the bags get dropped, the music goes on and everyone settles into weekend mode. There's something particularly fun about getting ready when none of you quite knows what the next few hours are going to look like. One thing you do know? You're all doing it together.
Then it's time to get on it. Your private pole studio is ready for the girls, with your instructor there to take you through the class and a glass of bubbly each for a little liquid courage. You'll learn your first moves, try a few spins and very quickly discover the particular satisfaction of getting something you couldn't do five minutes earlier. Then comes “one more try”. And another. Someone absolutely nails a move and the whole room erupts, somebody else is determined to get hers before the class ends, and suddenly everyone understands why pole gets addictive so quickly. There's just something about feeling yourself get stronger, smoother and more confident with every attempt.
After class, head down to our waterfront restaurant where your reserved table, a glass of bubbly each and share plates for the group are waiting. Pass the plates around while everyone replays their favourite moments from the class, compares photos and gives full credit where it's due. That move someone couldn't quite get? She's still thinking about it. That's how the local pole studio search begins.
Then it's down a Melbourne laneway to our glam cocktail lounge, where your group skips the cover charge and your VIP booth is waiting with another bottle of bubbly on ice. Pop the bottle, settle in and enjoy your very well-earned post-pole drinks before the dancefloor starts making a convincing argument for leaving the booth. Turns out trying something new together puts a very good energy into a night out.
Later, head back to the apartment for the inevitable photo review and debrief. There'll be favourite moves, screenshots, a few newly discovered muscles making themselves known and at least one person casually mentioning that she's already found a studio near home. You came for one class. Pole has other ideas.
