The Grid Girls Take the Wheel
You know the drivers, you know the teams and you’ve spent enough race weekends yelling at a screen to have some very valid opinions on strategy. Now it’s your turn on the grid. Grid Girl Energy takes the motorsport weekend out of the group chat and puts the girls behind the wheel, with two race sessions, your own chic Melbourne city apartment, golden hour bubbly by the river and a waterfront dinner to follow. You’ve watched enough race days. This one is yours.
First stop, the track. Our outdoor go karting circuit is ready for the girls, with open sky above, tyre barriers around the corners and the karts lined up ready to go. Your first race gives everyone a chance to learn the track and get into the flow. Then it’s time for your second race session, the decider. Suddenly every overtake matters, nobody is giving up the inside line and the girls who spend weekends analysing race strategy finally get to test a little of their own.
After the chequered flag, head back to your own chic Melbourne city apartment and let the pit stop begin. Bags hit the floor, music goes on and your custom grid girl cookies come out for their moment on the coffee table. Made especially for your group with racing-inspired details, they’re almost too cute to eat. Almost. Then it’s track hair to going-out hair, makeup bags taking over every available surface and a mirror queue running with pit crew efficiency.
Then it’s on to our waterfront bar for golden hour. Settle into your reserved area with a glass of bubbly each as the skyline catches the last of the light and the girls bring a little European race-weekend glamour to Melbourne. Sunglasses still on, drinks on the table, race results still being disputed. Consider this the podium celebration.
Once the sun goes down, dinner is waiting just a short stroll away. Your reserved table is set for the girls and the shared plates start landing, made for passing around. By now the race has been replayed several times, every questionable move has been investigated and at least one person’s version of events has become noticeably more impressive with each retelling. The official result says one thing. The table may have reached an entirely different conclusion.
From here, keep the night going in the city or head back to the apartment, order dessert and put on your favourite motorsport doco. Shoes off, commentary on and everyone defending their favourite driver. Some race weekends are best watched from the couch. This just wasn’t one of them.
