Girls trip ideas › Axe throwing

Axe throwing girls trips, one very satisfying thud, then the whole weekend

Did someone say feminine rage? Axes in hand, your own AXEpert coach in your corner and the girls screaming every time one sticks, then dinner, a night out and somewhere to stay for all of you.

Why the girls keep picking axe throwing

Polite all week. Not this weekend.

You’ve spent all week being extremely polite. ’No worries’ when there were, in fact, worries, and ’per my last email’ typed through gritted teeth. Then somebody in the group chat says axe throwing, and the replies come in faster than any of those emails.

This group is very good at swearing it will try something one day, and famously bad at picking the day. Axe throwing has been on the maybe pile for years. Your own My Ultimate AXEpert shows everyone how it’s done, the first one bounces off with a deeply unglamorous clang, and then one sticks and the whole lane screams like you’ve won the grand final.

It’s friendly competition, with a scoreboard everybody suddenly cares about very much, and somehow the most relaxed the group has felt all year. The stress leaves somewhere in the second round, usually right as you let go of the handle. It doesn’t come back all weekend.

Time with your girls belongs with the essentials, not on the someday list, and it turns out it can start with a very satisfying thud.

What happens on an axe throwing girls weekend

Caged lanes, timber targets, very loud cheering.

An axe throwing girls trip with My Ultimate is a coached axe throwing session with your own My Ultimate AXEpert, built into a whole girls weekend with somewhere to stay, food, drinks and a night out.

  1. The girls lined up at the axe throwing lanes for their coach’s briefing

    Step up to the line.

Caged lanes, painted target rings and your AXEpert showing everyone how to hold the thing and, more importantly, when to let go of it.

  2. Two friends clowning around on a timber throne, one holding an axe

    Everyone finds a stance.

Within minutes everyone has a very serious throwing technique, and somebody discovers a style no coach has ever seen. It works.

  3. Two friends hugging and laughing between throws at the axe throwing lanes

    Then one sticks.

Cheer every hit, yours or anyone’s, because by the second round you won’t be able to help it. You’ll be nailing throws you didn’t think you had in you.

  4. Friends in white robes raising a glass while getting ready in the apartment

    The scoreboard comes home.

Getting ready turns into a replay of every throw, with stance demonstrations in the hallway and a hairbrush standing in for an axe.

  5. Three friends laughing over a share plate and drinks under string lights

    Food, with the replays.

Share plates or hot grazing land in the middle of the table, the best throw gets a little bigger every time it’s told, and several lucky bullseyes get upgraded to raw talent.

  6. The girls dancing with drinks in hand on a packed nightclub dance floor

    Then the night keeps going.

A VIP booth in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, a round of shots on the Gold Coast, and the winning throw re-enacted on the dancefloor. It translates surprisingly well.

What kind of girls group axe throwing suits

Competitive, a little bit. All of you.

It works for the girls who get competitive about absolutely everything, and for the ones who just want to scream when something sticks.

A group of friends in going-out outfits raising their glasses under a big round light

The group that’s had a week.

Polite all week, and it finally gets somewhere to go. The targets take every bit of it, and not one of them takes it personally.

The ones who’ve said ’one day’ for years.

Axe throwing has lived on the maybe pile long enough. The someday list is about to get one line shorter.

The competitive ones.

There’s a scoreboard, and suddenly everyone cares about it very much. The appeals carry on at the couch debrief.

The ones who’ve never picked up an axe.

That’s most of the lane, and exactly who your AXEpert is there for. The first one that sticks gets the loudest cheer of the weekend.

Friends from different chapters.

School friends, work friends, sisters and somebody’s cousin. Cheering each other’s throws breaks the ice faster than any introduction.

The birthday that wants something different.

Not another dinner booking. A thud, a cheer and a story the whole group will still be telling.

Booking an axe throwing session, or a whole girls weekend

Same axes, a very different weekend.

Plenty of groups book a lane and have a great time. Then comes the bit after: where to eat, who’s booking it, the footpath debate between bars, and everyone peeling off in separate rides just as the replays get good.

An axe throwing girls weekend with My Ultimate has the apartment, the food, the drinks and where to next already lined up around the lanes, so the medal ceremony happens on the couch, heels in hand, with everyone there.

Somewhere to stay, already in it.One living room for the getting ready, the scoreboard appeals and the morning coffee.
One front door at the end of the night.Everyone heads home to the same place, still arguing about the best throw.

Axe throwing girls trip questions

Asked a lot, answered here.

Still deciding? See what pairs well with axe throwing, or pick your city and see the weekends.

Do we need to have thrown an axe before?

No. Your own My Ultimate AXEpert shows everyone how it’s done before the first throw goes up, and by the second round most of the group is nailing throws they didn’t think they had in them.

How much does an axe throwing girls trip cost?

The four axe throwing weekends start from $399 per person in Melbourne, $449 in Brisbane, $479 in Sydney and $499 on the Gold Coast, with somewhere to stay included, for a minimum of six. Accommodation can cost more on busy dates such as school holidays, so we confirm the price for your exact weekend when you check availability.

Is it a competition?

It can be. In Sydney, Brisbane and on the Gold Coast it runs as a friendly competition with a scoreboard everybody suddenly cares about. In Melbourne it’s a coached session, and the group usually keeps score anyway.

Can we have a drink while we throw?

Axes first, cocktails after, because, you know, aim matters. The drinks start once the throwing’s done.

What should we wear?

Something you can throw in and still go out in. Your consultant shares anything the venue asks for before the weekend.

What else is in the weekend?

Your own apartment, then food and drinks with the group: share plates or hot grazing with bubbles, and a night out with a VIP booth in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, or a round of shots on the Gold Coast.

What goes well with axe throwing?

A VIP booth, grazing at the apartment, brunch the morning after, a massage for the throwing arm or a jet boat ride. Some are already in the weekends and some can be added; each city’s page shows what’s in each weekend.

Can we just book the axe throwing?

Axe throwing with My Ultimate comes inside a whole girls weekend, with somewhere to stay. Pick your city to see the weekends in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and on the Gold Coast.

How many of us do we need?

All four axe throwing weekends start from six. Fewer than that? Let us know how many of you there are. We cater for groups of many sizes.

Is axe throwing a good idea for a birthday?

It’s one of the best. It’s different, it’s loud, everyone gets a turn and the birthday girl gets the first throw if the group is feeling generous.
