Why the girls keep picking life drawing
Artistic talent optional. Straight faces impossible.
The plans for this weekend have been sketchy for a while. A few dates floated in the group chat, calendars compared and absolutely nothing locked in. Then somebody mentioned life drawing, and nobody pretended to be scandalised. They just asked what else was in the weekend.
There’s a very short list of people you could sit beside at a life drawing class with a straight face and a pencil in your hand, and you’ve been saying exactly what you think to every one of them for years. Some of the group take their artistic responsibilities extremely seriously. Others lose concentration for entirely understandable reasons.
It’s cheeky and hilarious in equal measure, it all happens in your own apartment with nobody else in the room, and the sketches come out again at dinner, again on the couch and again over coffee. They never get better. Nobody minds.
Laughing until it hurts with these women isn’t a nice extra. It belongs in the diary, right next to everything else that keeps you going.
